‘Hyperlink’ lets you link a word or a group of words to another Page or Post on your site, or to any other site on the web. Hyperlinks can be especially helpful in linking back to source material, helping your users discover more great content, improving SEO and user retention.

To create a hyperlink, highlight the word or group of words you would like to link and click the ‘Insert/Edit Link’ icon in the visual editor.

In the popup dialog box enter the URL you would like the content to link to, a ‘Title’ describing the link and choose if you want the link to open in a new window. You can also search existing posts and pages from your site to link to by clicking ‘Or link to existing content’. When the link has been set the way you want it to appear click the ‘Add Link’ button.

To remove a link simply place your cursor on the link you would like to remove and click the ‘Remove Link’ icon.

You can include images on your site that are hosted at other locations on the web. When you find the image you want to use, hover over the image, right click on it and copy the link (The ‘Copy Image URL’ wording will vary depending on your browser).

Once your link is copied, from the page and post editor click the ‘Add Media’ button. In the sidebar of the ‘Insert Media’ screen you will find the ‘Insert from URL’ option.

Paste the URL of the image you want to display on your site where it says ‘http://’. The image will appear along with options to add a ‘Caption’, ‘Alternate Text’, ‘Alignment’ settings and options for setting where the image links to. Once the image is set the way you would like, click the ‘Insert Into Post’ button.

Keep in mind that using images hosted by others means you don’t have full control over them. If the image source file is moved, deleted or changed it will effect your site as well.

Headings help make your content easier to read and assist search engines in determining the important content on your site. To make a heading make sure the second row of tools are showing in the post or page editor by clicking the ‘Toolbar Toggle’.

In the text editor highlight the text you want to make into a heading. Click the text formatting drop-down menu. By default this is set to ‘Paragraph’. Scroll through the list and select the style you are looking for.

WordPress provides six different ‘Heading’ styles for highlighting and separating content on a page. ‘Heading 1’ is usually the largest signifying its importance, incrementally scaling down for each of the following headings.

When you are done editing and styling your content, you can preview it by clicking the ‘Preview’ button located in the ‘Publish’ module or click ‘Publish’ or ‘Update’ and your content will go live.

Images help improve the overall look and feel of your site. To upload an image from the post and page editor, simply drag-and-drop an image into the text editor. The ‘Media Library’ will open with the image you uploaded selected. Adjust the display settings and click ‘Insert Into Post’.

You can also upload an image by clicking ‘Add Media’ above the text editor. Click the ‘Upload Files’ tab and click the ‘Select Files’ button at the center of the screen. A desktop browser will appear allowing you to search through the images on your computer. The image will appear selected and ready to insert into the post or page.

The ‘Media Library’ stores all of the images uploaded to your site in one place–making it easy to access images in the future. To add an image to a post or a page that is already in the ‘Media Library’ place the cursor where you want image to display and click the ‘Add Media’ button.

The ‘Insert Media’ screen will appear giving you the option to ‘Upload Files’ or click the tab that says ‘Media Library’ and all of your previously loaded media files will appear. Simply select the image you would like to insert into the post and options for editing the image will show to the right of the Media Library.

Once you have the ‘Display Settings’ adjusted the way you like click the ‘Insert Into Post’ button. Your image will show in the post giving you an idea of what it will look like when published.
